krismukai answered your question “hi! since i’m running the kind of blog i do i’m curious what people…”

gamergate is a waste of breath

yes.

i don’t want to have anything to do with anyone who sees anything redeeming about gamergate. i’ve waited a while before doing anything like this because this blog to me has been a way of getting away from what gamergate represents. the plan was that i would get someone to speak up in defense so that i could block them, but i only got one anon and one or two neutral-ish comments :/

i want to say that if you’re in any way sympathetic to views linked to gamergate you’re a shitty person and you are not welcome here.

before i started this blog there was a 10 year period when games were one of the things i spent the most time on. just keeping up with them as a fan. old games and new, because looking at the past and seeing some of the new things made it seem like a place where amazing things could happen. even if it was mainly that the potential was there. then around 2009 i realized looking at games like i did was wearing me down, and that games aren’t worth the time i was spending on them, and i quit. then i found tumblr, and felt like trying something like fmtownsmarty and newvisiontechnology were doing since i knew of some cool things to post. so i got back into games in a way, but still only for as far as doing what i do here. i still stay away from media or culture surrounding games. and then having to deal with something like this feels kind of like meeting someone you knew when you were 14 and never wanted to see again. a kind of person who belittles you constantly without even knowing it. if you think any of what gamergate stands for seems ok, then you should know that everything on this blog is here in spite of you and in opposition to you.
